 "Portside has given me the structure and discipline I needed to get back into shape.  More importantly, Sara and her team of coaches create a really positive environment that is based upon camaraderie and a real sense of family combined with a heavy dose of hard work.  The 6:00 a.m. class is filled with great people all working together to give themselves and each other the maximum benefits from our programs.   I have really found a home at Portside and I look forward to continuing my progress.  I may not reach my goal of losing 50 pounds by my 50th birthday, but I’ll keep AMRAP-ing until I get there.”

"I started crossfit because I was tired of doing the same old routine in the gym. Monotonous lifts everyday that were boring were getting me no where. There is no community in a regular gym. Everyone has their headphones in and is doing their own thing. I come from community based sports: football, baseball, rugby. I needed that. And I found it in crossfit.

A community that is just as interested in my accomplishments as they are their own. 
A few things I’ve learned from crossfit are that challenges are good. It builds confidence. When you learn you can do something, it makes you feel like you can do more. Also, it’s okay to fail. It sucks to fail, but it creates motivation to go back and try harder."

"Three months ago I started bootcamp at Crossfit Portside. I was so nervous about joining because I did not know anyone, I was out of shape, and I did not want to look like a fool out there.

I kept thinking that fate put this in front of me and I just needed to do it. Signing up for bootcamp was one of the better decisions that I have made in my life. After bootcamp, I signed up for Crossfitclasses and have been going four times a week since. 
•••
I have not lost 50 pounds or dropped five sizes but I can wear my jeans comfortably again and I feel so much stronger. It might not be evident from the outside but I can feel it on the inside. With strength, comes confidence. The strength, confidence, and increased energy are so worth the pain and time spent.

I have never enjoyed working out before now. Most days, I look forward to going to class. The days that I am hesitant or tired, I just push through and I am always so thankful that I did after it is over. The coaches are amazing!! Thank you Sara and Melinda for encouraging me, correcting me, and pushing me to do more. I am so thankful that I found this wonderful community!"
