Portside has taught me so much in the past 7 months. I found a strength in myself that I never knew I had. I find drive and determination that has kept me going! More than anything, it has given me confidence that I was lacking!

Exercising was also so boring and miserable for me. I tried many times to get into a routine but it quickly faded. With Portside, I am constantly challenged and encouraged. Many people that know me well have said, “I can’t believe you are still working out!” My response is always, “me either!” I truly enjoy meeting new people now and I look forward to seeing my ‪Portside‬ friends.

I think I do really well with front squats and I hope to be able to eventually do a pull up! It’s incredible to see your body transition and your strength increase! I couldn’t even do a real push up in the beginning of my Portside experience!
•••••
Thank you soooo much for the better, healthier, happier ME!

I came to ‪Portside‬ about a year ago when my wife and I moved back from the coast. I had gone to another crossfit gym before, and I really liked the group workout atmosphere. Sara and her staff were very welcoming, and the camaraderie between the coaches and athletes was evident immediately. I’ve met a lot of really great people and I truly enjoy working out (most) every day. Portside is a great place to work out with great people. You won’t regret joining

I️ came to ‪Portside‬ about a year ago when my wife and I moved back from the coast. I had gone to another crossfit gym before, and I really liked the group workout atmosphere. Sara and her staff were very welcoming, and the camaraderie between the coaches and athletes was evident immediately. I’ve met a lot of really great people and I truly enjoy working out (most) every day. Now that all the boring/uplifting talk is out of the way, here are the things you really need to know.
Pros to Crossfit ‪Portside‬:
* Excellent coaching staff and fun atmosphere
* There are sometimes dogs at the gym
* Coaches participate. I’ve seen Sara work out upwards of three times!
* Constantly moving equipment, something new everyday
* A big ass fan
Cons to Crossfit ‪Portside‬:
* Melinda correcting you on your form even though she’s a good coach and that’s what she should do
* Constantly moving equipment, where are the weights this week?
* Going 3 days a week and somehow having squats all 3 days
‪Portside is a great place to work out with great people. You won’t regret joining

I started crossfit because I was tired of doing the same old routine in the gym. Monotonous lifts everyday that were boring were getting me no where. There is no community in a regular gym. Everyone has their headphones in and is doing their own thing. I come from community based sports: football, baseball, rugby. I needed that. And I found it in crossfit.
•••
A community that is just as interested in my accomplishments as they are their own.
A few things I’ve learned from crossfit are that challenges are good. It builds confidence. When you learn you can do something, it makes you feel like you can do more. Also, it’s okay to fail. It sucks to fail, but it creates motivation to go back and try harder.
•••
Last thing I’ve learned, there is a lot more inside me than I thought. I just needed something to push it out of me. You never know how much you have in you until something pushes you harder than you can push yourself.

There is nothing intimidating about CrossFit. Just ask Shonda or better yet, hear what she has to say.

“PortSide and the great coaches have completely changed my view about exercise. I have never been athletic so I started with a huge handicap. I just started my 5th bootcamp along with CrossFit two nights a week.
••••
The biggest change I’ve made is in my attitude. I’m trying to do more and push myself harder which is a direct result of the support and encouragement from coaches and Portside family. Joining Portside is the best thing I’ve done for ME!!
